"The Stache"

I thought I'd share this funny picture! Greg had to shave his beard to return to work but I captured this picture in the process.

Moose Sausage

Sunday afternoon Greg decided to make some homemade moose summer sausage. I had bought the machine for him last Christmas. Now we know how to use it...we'll have all sorts of wild game sausage in the house. It was very tasty!!!!

Why I love coupons!!!!!

As many of you know I am addicted to coupons now. I've had great "training" in couponing through a local website http://www.alaskacoupondiva.com/
I am amazed at the savings with very little amount of effort involved. Here is a list of what a bought yesterday:
2 Frebreze candles
4 cans of soup
5 boxes of granola ars
3 bags of nut clusters
2 bottles of windex
2 boxes of capri sun
1 bag (1.5 lbs) dog food
____
19 items for just $23.62 not bad for a beginner! I am challenging everyone I know to look at the website and try it for yourself!

Hiking on Labor day

Alaska State Fair

We went to the Alaska State Fair on Saturday September 5th with the Wilderness family. Greg was deployed to Jolo with Dale (he is an OR tech) and they have bonded. It was a lot of fun...we saw GIANT Veggies, Lance Mackey (Iditarod winner 2009) and had the best dipped ice cream bar! Of course during football season & in the Fall we play a game called corn hole in our yard almost daily.

Blueberry Picking

Over the last week Greg and I have been hiking & picking wild blueberries. We have now picked over 5 lbs worth! Greg is excellent at finding & harvesting if it involves a dessert at the end. I have made blueberry strudel muffins, blueberry cheese cake, & blueberry pie. Tonight we are thinking of something else because we picked raspberries this afternoon and it's the eve of Greg's return to work. What a bummer! I've enjoyed having him home.

Duck Hunting opening day Sept. 2, 2009

Rainbow trout fishing & Canoeing 9/2/09

Greg and I went canoeing earlier this week on a beautiful fall afternoon. Stone was home resting from duck hunting. We were also doing a little trout fishing. We got quite a few small ones but nothing worth keeping. As you can see from the pictures a Loon was off in the distance but came up and took Greg's 10 inch trout from him! What an awesome experience!! We are so blessed to be living in such a wonderful place!

Grilled Pizza night

We have almost perfected our grilled pizza...its at about a 98%. Even the dough is homemade.

Jim's Creek

Greg and I were out scouting duck ponds on Sept. 1st as well as doing a little salmon fishing. Stone went with us and the road to get back there was very muddy!!! He loved it....until we got home when he had a bath.

Moose Hunting-August 2009

Greg went moose hunting at the end of August just for a few days. I think he was preparing for the big hunt. He saw a few bulls but none that were legal. He captured this view just an hour north of the house.
